Few Standardized Principles On Dog Training

By Kausar Khan

Just like human beings, dogs are found to have different nature, behavior and perception. They are born with different perceptions, habits and natures. To train them well, different efforts and methodologies are applied which follows in accordance to the nature, habit and perception of your dog. So most significant step for dog training is to know your dog. If you know what is their natural behavior, perception and habit then it can be very easy for you to train them well. One thing which you must consider for dog training is that dogs act like humans in many aspects and they do not like harsh and strain behavior applied on them.

Dogs are really intelligent animals and there intelligence is different varying from one type of dog to another. Some factors are involved to differentiate in this regard. These facts can be age, surrounding, breed or general behavior. However, there are certain effectual principles for dog training which can lead to successful dog training and these can be applied universally to every dog disregarding breed, age, surrounding or any other facts. These facts revolved around the "knowhow" of a dog. Here are those simple but effective principles which you need to follow to train your dog.

First principle which you need to follow strictly is not to hit your dog. Beating your dog for no reason and forcing him to learn what you desire can be proved unhealthy. This is the most ill mannered method and it does not follow human nature. Dogs will also get harmed from beating and hitting methods and this can turn them possibly into more defensive or more violent in future and this can also be harmful for others. Teaching with friendly methods is good. If your dogs do not learn by friendly methods, then you can slightly hit your dog. But make sure you are still friendly to your dog.

If a dog learns one habit, it is very difficult to change that habit. For example, try fetching a ball by picking it up in front of your dog and then throw it away making him go and pick ball up for you. After a few tries, your dog will learn this habit. Now, even if you try mocking fetches then dog will quickly jump for the ball. That is because the dog is trained for such habit. Now changing this habit is really difficult. Be sure that you are training your dog with right habits and behaviors.

Understanding your dog is most important principle for dog training. Even dogs express the mood he is having through some gestures like tail wagging, jumping and many other gestures. Learning the right gestures can help you out in dog training. Just for an example, snarling done by a dog usually indicates anger or when some stranger is spotted, tail wagging indicates a friendly mood of dog and the tail between legs reflects timidity. Therefore learning the right mood of your dog and treating accordingly to the mood of your dog can easily let you train your dog.
